Gate 21 Smart City Hackathon 2016

On 6 and 7 June, the Gate 21 Smart City Hackathon was held with great success. More than 40 hackers worked around the clock on exciting solutions to local problems. The solutions included a karma points system and a local energy sharing platform. See how it went in the video below.

What is a hackathon?

The name ‘hackathon’ is a contraction of hack and marathon. A hackathon is an event where IT-developers meet and work intensively on developing prototypes and concepts, or on further developing already existing IT-projects. Often hackathons focus on a specific subject or set of data. The goal of a hackathon is rarely to produce a finished product, but rather to create ideas and a foundation for future product development.
