Driverless transportation: New opportunities for cities?
11. oktober 2019 / 9:00 - 11:00Free
COWI, Smart City Cluster and Gate 21 invite to a C40 masterclass on ‘Driverless transportation: New opportunities for cities?’ – Friday 11 October at 9:00-11:00 during the C40 World Mayors Summit and the Live Like Tomorrow festival in Copenhagen.
Autonomous vehicles won’t just change the way we get around; they can turn streets into living spaces. But technology won’t do it alone.
A recent Oslo study on a future with full implementation of autonomous cars shows remarkable results: If we manage to share cars and make public transport more attractive with driverless shuttles, we can reduce the number of cars dramatically and move towards more sustainable mobility in our cities.
This masterclass will engage participants in discussing the various factors necessary for a successful urban transformation from technological aspects to more human aspects, and we will discuss the different opportunities and risks.
Among the participants in the panel discussion, which will take place towards the end of the masterclass, we welcome CEO Peter Sorgenfrei from Holo, one of the leading operators of autonomous vehicles in Europe, will share their/his experiences with autonomous technology and the future of mobility, COWI’s urban development director Karin Thuesen and Steen Christiansen, mayor of the City of Albertslund, who will elaborate on the city’s involvement in the LINC project.
BLOXHUB, Arena, Bryghuspladsen 8, entrance C, 3rd floor, 1473 Copenhagen
Participation in the masterclass will be free of charge. However, space is limited, so early registration is recommended.
COWI and Gate 21 look forward to welcoming you October 11th for two hours of inspiring debate on the future of our cities.
